Since its establishment in 2016, the Iranian-Persian American Association of Greater Long Beach (IPAA), a small nonprofit organization, has made significant strides in promoting Iranian culture, supporting social causes, and fostering community engagement. Despite limited resources, IPAA has consistently organized and participated in events that reflect its core values of philanthropy, volunteerism, and cultural appreciation. These activities include cultural celebrations such as Nowruz and Yalda, as well as the annual demonstration of Persian calligraphy during UNESCO's International Mother Language Day at CSULB. In addition, IPAA advocates for human rights and women's equality.
IPAA has also undertaken charitable initiatives, providing support to local CSULB and LBCC students facing financial hardships, assisting the houseless community in Long Beach, and launching campaigns to aid injured protesters and refugees. Its consistent presence at local fairs, rallies, and community events has amplified its advocacy for justice and equality on both local and global levels.
Through collaborations with organizations like the CSULB and LBCC Foundations and partnerships with local officials, IPAA has fostered civic participation and raised awareness of pressing social issues. Its dedication to enriching the Iranian-Persian American community and supporting vulnerable groups underscores the powerful impact a small nonprofit can have in both cultural preservation and social activism.
