The plight of Zaniar Tondro, who, at 17 years old, sustained over 40 shotgun pellet wounds during protests against the mullah regime in Piranshahr, has stirred global compassion. Among these pellets, 11 caused severe damage to Zaniar's head and face, resulting in the loss of his right eyesight, while his left eye's vision is diminished to 40%. Eight pellets still remain lodged in his head, causing ongoing agony. Constant threats from the Iranian regime forced Zaniar and his family to flee to Turkey, where they faced the looming threat of deportation back to Iran. Desperate to secure safety, they embarked on a perilous journey across the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, only to be met with brutality by the Greek navy and eventually detained in a Turkish deportation camp.
Thanks to the intervention of The Munich Circle, they have found refuge in Germany, where Zaniar can now access the medical care he urgently needs.
