Farough was viciously attacked with shotgun ammunition at close range, sustaining severe injuries as he journeyed back from the cemetery to the city following the funeral commemorating the 40th anniversary of Mahsa Jina Amini's death. Struck in the face and upper body by a full barrage of shotgun pellets from just meters away, he collapsed amidst a pool of blood. Through sheer fortune, friends whisked him away from the scene, avoiding the local hospital out of fear of surveillance.
Seeking refuge at home, a nurse provided him with essential medication and pain relief, but the urgency of his condition necessitated immediate hospitalization. However, local hospitals were closely monitored, with injured individuals swiftly registered or detained. Transported to a hospital in Tabriz, Farough underwent surgery, though grim news awaited – his injured eye faced dire prospects, and he suffered tooth loss due to the blast. Despite the removal of numerous shotgun pellets, many remained embedded in his face and body, causing persistent agony and complications.
Under relentless harassment and threats from agents of the oppressive regime, Farough had no choice but to flee for his safety. Following his escape, he reached out to The Munich Circle e.V., whose collaboration with German authorities facilitated his and his family's relocation to Germany. Now, Farough can access the vital medical care he urgently requires, finding sanctuary and hope in Germany.
