Ali Delpasand responded to Ali Karimi’s call to protest against the mullah regime and was traveling with his wife and daughter in a motorcade on November 15, 2022, alongside other protesters when a regime henchman fired a shotgun at their car from a distance of approximately 4 meters. The attack left Ali Delpasand seriously injured in the face and head, ultimately resulting in the loss of vision in his left eye. His wife also sustained injuries from shotgun pellets, while miraculously, their daughter emerged unharmed from the harrowing incident.
Despite the help of bystanders, initial attempts to seek medical assistance were met with obstacles. Several small clinics turned them away, partly due to fear among staff and partly due to the lack of specialized treatment available. With the intervention of a doctor friend, Ali Delpasand was eventually admitted to Gil Hospital in Rasht. Following thorough examination and a CT scan, he was transferred to Farabi Hospital in Tehran, where he underwent three eye surgeries.
However, Ali continues to endure discomfort and pain caused by shotgun pellets lodged in his head and neck area. Despite his attempts to remain low-key for the safety of his family, news of his condition and ordeal eventually surfaced, accompanied by photographs. As the regime intensified its crackdown on protesters with eye injuries, the family felt compelled to flee Iran, finding no solace in Turkey due to the presence of the mullahs’ agents. Their daughter endured months of extreme psychological distress.
The Munich Circle became aware of Ali Delpasand’s plight and, in collaboration with German authorities, facilitated the family's entry into Germany, providing them with a sanctuary from persecution.
