Chaharshanbeh Suri Celebration at El Dorado Regional Park, Long Beach -

Many gathered at the El Dorado Regional Park in Long Beach to celebrate Chaharshanbeh Suri on Tuesday March 15, 2016. The celebration started with servings of Ashe Reshteh and sandwiches as participants listened to joyous Norooz music. Afterwards, bonfires were made and the jumping over the fire practice started as people chanted the traditional “zardi ye man az to, sorkhi to az man”. This poetic quote asks the fire to take ones sickness and problems and replaced them with warmth and energy.  Chaharshanbeh Suri’s exhilarating event was the perfect purification rite, before the arrival of Spring. Iranian-Persian American Association of Greater Long Beach is proud to have taken part in organizing this event.
